Course Description

In this course, you learn about the time from the introduction of books to Japan all the way up to the Edo period through a bibliographic point of view, such as materials used (ex. paper and ink), binding, the western styles of transcription and printing, publishing, distribution, etc. You will also experience woodblock printing and binding to familiarize yourself to books in order days.
