Course Description

What is the global community? Should we distinguish it from the international community or society? Answering these questions is hard, even for professional scholars in the field of international relations. To understand the basic characteristics of the global and international community, this course examines five topics: (1) collective security and military alliances, (2) the First and Second World Wars and their impact on the contemporary world, (3) the Cold War as the “Long Peace,” (4) peacebuilding after international conflicts and civil wars, and (5) immigration-related issues.
