Course Description

Museum materials are the basis of all museum activities and the foundation of their existence. Because materials collected by museums covers various fields, curators handling them need expertness and experience. On the other hand, to enhance museum activities and to make museums more appealing to the public, curators need to widen their perspective in collecting, studying, and exhibiting museum materials. This lecture will explain the characteristics of major museum materials to provide basic knowledge required to become curators, and discuss how to disseminate thems more effectively.
