Course Description

Being continued from Introduction to Psychopharmacology I, states and mechanisms of mind are viewed via the drug effects. The main focus will be on drug dependence, including on methamphetamine, a leading drugs of abuse in Japan, nicotine (tobacco), and caffeine (e.g. coffee, tea, chocolate). Topics on "behavioral addiction", e.g. gambling and internet gaming, and sex differences in these addictive behaviors will be briefly reviewed. 14th and 15th lectures will be on the effects of parents' chemical exposure on the brain function in the next generation, i.e. neurodevelopmental toxicity of chemicals, featuring endocrine disruptors.
