Course Description

Students have learned about brain mechanisms mediating state of mind via findings in behavioral pharmacology, in Basic Research in Psychology II. However, “mind” is not created by brain alone, and signals from internal organs and skin (cutaneous/tactile sensation) also play an important role. Such expression as “gut feeling” and “touched” may represent such cases. Students will learn the possible mechanisms how the state of mind is affected/created by “cross-talks” between brain and internal organs as well as by cutaneous stimulation.
