Course Description

In this seminar, every student proposes a revised article of the Japanese constitution, makes a presentation of the proposal, and the class will have a discussion concerning the proposal. Each student will develop his or her self-awareness and responsibility as a sovereign member of the liberal democracy. Challenged by different opinions, each member of the seminar will refine one's own thoughts, mind and character.
The Constitution of Japan has never been amended nor revised in the past 72 years after the fundamental law was enforced in 1947 when Japan had been under occupation by the Allied Forces of World War 2. The constitution has not ever been approved by referendum of the Japanese people.
