Course Description

This course introduces students to the Japanese history from the Taisho Democracy to the rapid economic growth after WWII and outlines what affected modern Japan to start and conduct a series of wars in those times and to recover after the WWII. The process and causes Taisho Democracy was declined will be focused. Students are required to think out all the issues addressed in this course and draw lessons from them, which helps students cultivate their ability to consider social or political issues of our time with the awareness of the history of modern Japan.
