Course Description

The world recognition to the cultural properties is discussed in this course, including " Registration in the World Heritage List”. Cultural properties are traces of past human activities, and most of them are just materials. These materials become cultural properties when a human being recognizes its values. Thus the recognition of cultural properties depends on the national characteristics and their environment. Cultural properties should be utilized for public benefit; for example, opening them to the public. On the other hand, protection and public utilization of cultural properties are conflicted problems. This course will be an important opportunity to consider these serious problems.
