Course Description

The purpose of this course is to learn the uniqueness of the Japanese post war political system,under which the Liberal Democratic Party has been in power since 1955 except only two brief interruptions. Topics include politcal leaders, policy making process, parliamentary cabinet system and bureaucracy. Students are expected to pay attention to the daily news reports in the newspapers and TV news.
