Course Description

This fall course focuses on the prospects, results and effects of November presidential election. We look into how Trump's policies would evolve in the second term if he wins, or to what extent U.S. policies would revert to the postwar tradition if he loses.
We cover one issue at a time: causes of Trump's electoral victory or of his defeat, U.S. trade, foreign and security policy in its aftermath, continuing struggle with China for global order, special characteristics of US-Japan relationship, etc.
Students should be able to have basic knowledge and their viewpoint about today’s America.
