Course Description

This class aims to learn Western History (1) in the perspective of the history of the planet earth and life, (2) through understanding the fundamental concepts such as civilization, state, war, religion, politics etc.in their origins, (3) through reading of the exerpts of the Greek and Roman classcics. It treats the period from the birth of the planet earth to Renaissance, focusing on the ancient history of Greece and Rome. Students are expected to understand Western History in the global perspective, and to learn how to make their own image of history.
