Course Description

  Curriculum is well-planned definition of contents which should be taught and learned. Ministry’s curriculum guideline is typical. Teachers have to plan and play out their own educational activities in according with the guideline in principle.
  However, it is not necessary that Japanese current curriculum is absolutely right and the rightness varies across the societies or ages. Therefore, we as professionals of education, for the future of children and society, have a responsibility to have capacity for planning our own curriculum, and to express our own opinions and whereby steer the curriculum in a positive direction when it is going to be revised.
  In this lecture, we aim to shape the opinions about an appropriate form of curriculum through learning various knowledges and issues about it.
