Course Description

The aim of this course is to understand recent progress in the archeology of organic remains, such as humans, animals, and plants, which are becoming more and more common in today’s archaeology. Methods for reconstructing past lives and environments from traces of DNA, lipids, and proteins have rapidly developed. They are now an indispensable knowledge in collecting as much information as possible from archeological excavations. In the spring term, the main theme will be diet and foodways, and in the autumn, the main theme will be dispersal and mobility.
