This class treats Plutarch,Life of Alexander. The extant works on Alexander the Great are written by the authors in the Imperial Rome , based on many historical works and traditions since the reign of Alecander, so historical research of Alexander requires deliberate reading of the texts, distinguishing the facts from fictions, and clearing the bias that derives from sense of value of the Romans. Students are invited to learn the method of historical critics and consider the life of Alexander in the historical background.
