Course Description

This class gives an overview of the history of the United States, which has been the most familiar country for Japan since the modern era. There are not many opportunities to learn American history in the world history class until high school, and even if you look at Japanese universities in general, there are not many American history classes. Take the opportunity of entering Teikyo University's Department of History to study the complete history of the United States. Learn about the history of the formation of the United States of America and how its founding principles evolved in response to the changing domestic situation and diplomatic position of the United States. (* Learning at university is called "study".) The United States of America was an independent nation in the 18 century, so its history is much shorter than that of either Japan or the eternal Oriental history. But a very "historical" country is the United States. It is no exaggeration to say that world history is condensed into its short history. In the latter half of the year, Special Lecture on Western History 5C-II covers the history of the United States from the post-Civil War period to the present.
