Course Description

This class treats politics and politicians in the ancient Greece and Rome through reading the writings of contemporary scholars and the lives of Plutarch, focusing on the Athenian politicians and Caesar. Students are required to deliberately read these texts, make and report summary, and discuss, so that they may understand the features of the ancient politics and compare it with the modern democracy.
