Course Description

This course introduces students to the Japanese diplomatic history after the end of WWII and reviews the key factors for its postwar recovery, comeback attempt to the international community and several diplomatic issues persisting until today. This course will trace how Japan made a recovery from its postwar ruins. Students are required to think out all the issues addressed in this course and draw lessons from them, which helps students cultivate their ability to consider social or political issues of our time with the awareness of the history of modern Japan.
