Course Description

Introduction to sociolinguistics. From the perspective of the relationship between society and language, we consider variations in languages around us (mainly Japanese). We learn language variations from language users' age, gender, occupation, usage context, historical changes, geographic changes, language awareness, and more.
We aim to provide an objective and fair view of the background of the language used in everyday situations.
