Course Description

Clinical psychology is a practical psychology to be useful in the field of medical care, education, industry, welfare, justice and so on. Clinical psychologists in various clinical settings are required to be trained and practiced based on the "Scientist-Practitioner Model", which tells the importance of practice based on a scientific understanding of the structure of the mind.
However, patients and clients have highly individual problems and experience. Therefore, it is not so easy to keep the balance between a scientific, objective perspective and individual, subjective perspective from patients and clients. If you focus only on scientific knowledge, you may not understand the suffering of the patients and clients there on the spot.
In "Basic Research in Psychology II", students will learn about psychological disorders, using the paradigms covered in "Basic Research in Psychology I". Specifically, it will deal with issues such as mood disorders, various anxiety disorders , schizophrenia, and developmental disorders.
