Course Description

In order to conduct research beyond a master's degree at a graduate school, it is necessary to have knowledge about the area you are majoring in and about another specialized field. You can't discuss expertise without having a perspective to compare. This is also an important requirement for graduate students majoring in Japanese history and cultural properties. In this class, students acquire basic knowledge of Western history through the intensive reading of 'Will Nazism Return? Lessons from the Weimar Republic on Democracy' (Keio University Press) by Andreas Vilsing and other leading scholars of Nazism, and comprehensively discuss contemporary issues.
