Course Description

The general purpose of this second semester is to know how the countries of Latin America were formed and to have an overview of the region.
Through slide exhibitions, we will get to know the art and music of each region. We will also study how the independence of Latin America was achieved, the reasons for wars and guerrillas. We will see the “lost decade”, militarism, the drug cartels and we will learn about the contributions of migration, both European and Asian.
We will take a tour of the main World Heritage Sites, Latin American music, and art, in addition to knowing the scientific contributions of the region, we will see the current political situation with the new movements such as Socialism of the XXI century, the Progressives and the so-called Libertarians.
