Course Description

In the autumn semester of this course, we focus on the South Asian countries other than India. We aim to understand the politics, society, and economy of each country, and international relations in South Asia and the Indo-Pacific region. In the class, we mainly focus on four countries (Pakistan, Sri Lanka, Bangladesh, and Nepal). We study the political history, social and economic issues, foreign policy, etc. of each country. We also study regional cooperation among the South Asian countries, and the strategies of India and China on the South Asian region. I will give you a quiz at the end of each class, so that you can check your understanding and express your own opinions on the topics discussed.
