Course Description

In this lecture, we will learn the theoretical basics of "comparative literature" and then consider representative works of Japanese literature from the 19th century to the present day from the perspective of "comparative literature". Specifically, we will learn about the diversity of Japanese literature and arts, with a view to cultural exchanges and influences between Japan and overseas countries. We will look at how each work was accepted in a foreign country across national borders, or how it was translated.
Classes are basically lecture-style, but there are also cases where group activities or discussion opportunities are adopted in a short period of time. No specific text is used. Distribute materials such as resumes every time.
