Course Description

Museum materials include arts and crafts, handwriting, books and ancient documents, archaeological materials, folk implement materials, natural history specimens, biological materials, etc., and are extremely diverse. A wide range of knowledge is required for the preservation of these materials. We will learn the significance and history of museum material preservation, the physical characteristics of materials, materials and manufacturing techniques, various deterioration factors and basic knowledge about each suppression method, and learn about preservation techniques related to museum storage and exhibition.
