Course Description

This class will take a examine the sound system of English, the history of why English spelling often does not match its pronunciation and other fun facts about English pronunciation. Students will learn the International Phonetic Alphabet for English and practice reading and writing using the IPA. If you would like to improve your pronunciation and learn the ins-and-outs of the English sounds system, then this class is for you. Students should be prepared to speak, experiment with the sounds of English.
