Course Description

This class is conducted in English. The class provides a unique chance with Japanese students with English competence and international students to interact, discuss, and work together in a collaborative setting. This is a seminary-style class conducted by Problem Based Learning (PBL) as a continuation of Japan Research I.
First, we will review the basic definition of Culture, Communication , Intercultural Communication, or Relationship between Culture and Language. Second, we will critically analyze the cultural aspects represented and illustrated in Japanese language textbooks or teaching materials written for international students. In groups of interests students are expected to make a final presentation for the problems and solutions found in these materials.
