Course Description

This course is an introduction to modern Japan-China relations and international history in East Asia. The primary aim of this lecture is to provide students with a general but solid knowledge of Japanese and Chinese political system, foreign policy, and international environment from Meiji era to present. Particular focus will be placed on: a western impact on East Asian world; and both Japan and China’s developments into a modern nation-state. This lecture will be taught and assessed in Japanese.
