Course Description

Under the influence of severe globalization, the regional economy of Japan can now be viewed as a complicated situation, involving such factors as the mono-polar concentration into Tokyo and the stagnation of the country’s peripheral parts, implying an expanding spatial disparity. This course aims to specifically explain that situation based on a variety of empirical economic data. Long-term changes in relation to these issues during the past half century as well as relevant national/regional economic policies are also discussed.
