The course offers an introduction to "international development" in the contemporary world. Development is one of the most challenging subjects of our age, and
understanding development and developing countries is of particular importance to have a comprehensive view on the global society. This course is based on both theoretical and practical approaches to look into the subject, and includes two special sessions with a presence of a practitioner in each session. Japan's international development policy is also to be covered in the light of my professional experiences in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and former Overseas Economic Cooperation Fund.
Evaluation method: regular performance( attendance, review test) (60%) and term-end exam(40%).
