Course Description

The purpose of this class is to think critically about university education, which has been transformed and disrupted since the 1990s by a wave of university education reforms. On the one hand, this change has been credited with improving the quality of university education, but on the other hand, it has also been criticized for killing university education. By examining these debates in detail, the purpose of this class is to consider what university reform is and what university education should be aiming for in the first place.
A university is a place for "learning," but what learning is for, then, is nothing other than "development. For development, it is essential to collaborate with others and learn from each other. In this class, through the collaborative process of discussion by all students, we aim to develop together and make the university a place of development.
