Course Description

Museum collections are very diversified: history, archaeology, ethnology, natural history, art, and even living animals and plants. Nobody can be a specialist of all of them, yet curators are required to have basic knowledge of all the kinds of those materials, and a lot of curiosities so that they can find a new value different from traditional one. This lecture will deal with history of museum collections, characteristics of each category, and how to collect, preserve, research, exhibit the collections and provide opportunities for people's education and entertainment using them.
