Course Description

This course will introduce major "canonical" figures in the history of European literature and philosophy, through the eye of the nineteenth century English poet Percy Bysshe Shelley, one of the most prominent Romantic poets, who had a refined taste for literature and philosophy. With Shelley's elegant commentaries, students will learn Plato, Ovid, Dante, Shakespeare, Milton, Rousseau, and others. Those students who have missed one-third of all classes without due justification will receive a grade penalty.
