Course Description

This course aims to provide students with a broad knowledge of foreign archaeology, its methods and methodologies, and an understanding of how it differs from Japanese archaeology by studying and considering some examples of foreign archaeology. The course also aims to give students a broad perspective beyond their narrow field of specialization, and to enable them to conduct their own research from a global perspective. In the class, students will be asked to choose a case study of foreign archaeology of their interest, present it, and discuss it. External speakers will also be invited to present examples of foreign archaeology.
