Course Description

In this lesson, we will learn about the history of Japanese archaeology through the history of research, which is common sense today, from paleolithic to ancient times. The review of such a history of the research is a basic work which should be done first when the research is started. We will learn about the history of their research and studies by taking up various themes from each era, including what archaeological challenges exist in each era, what methodologies they have come to be elucidated, what and to what extent they have not yet been elucidated. Although Japanese archaeology has achieved dramatic development in a relatively short time through research cases, new discoveries, and accumulation of materials, there are still many issues that have not been elucidated today, and the field of archaeology has room for reconsider even though it has been made common sense, and we recognize that point again.
