Course Description

This lecture is mainly a study of the history of Japanese archaeology, and explores the direction of archaeology through the history of japanese archaeology and research history. Japanese archaeology is said to have begun excavations of the Omori shell mound by E.S.Morse in the early Meiji period, but since then it has continued today through various epochs. It is the most important and basic learning for students who wish to become archeologist in the future to learn the history of what kind of research process, discussion was conducted, what conclusions, and archeological theories were obtained based on what kind of subjects and hypotheses. Therefore, in this lecture, we will learn the history of archaeology from pre-early modern times to the present day in the first half, and in the second half, we will learn about various issues, various discussions, discussions, discussions, and theories from paleolithic to Edo period.
