Course Description

In archaeological research, it may be possible to clarify the essence of history and culture by comparing regions and timelessly in various parts of the world or in the same Japanese archipelago. Depending on the geographical environment and natural environment surrounding society, the background of the times and social systems, the group, region, national cohesion, and interaction with the surrounding area, it is possible to find differences with similarities by comparing two or more events, society, culture, and times, but a method of deepening research on individual themes in each era is a comparative archaeology study. Here, we take up various themes with universality in space-time, add recent research results, compare them, and clarify the characteristics of each era. In this way, we understand that comparative archaeology is a methodology for conducting historical research, and conduct practical work through subject reports and oral presentations.
