Course Description

The subject, Constitution: Special Topics II, focuses on reminding the students of their responsibility for refining and revising the constitution as sovereign rulers of this democracy.
The Constitution of Japan was quickly drafted by the UN occupation army in just 9 days from February 4th to 12th, 1946. The constitution was established in November of the year without sufficient period for proofreading and reconsideration; nevertheless, even indispensable amendments have not been proposed to the Japanese people for more than 74 years, ever since the enforcement.
In the fall term, we will reexamine Chapter 4(Diet), Chapter 5(Cabinet), Chapter 6(Courts), Chapter 7(National finance), Chapter 8(Local self-governments) etc.
