Course Description

The goal of this course is to acquire methods to analyze cultural properties from a scientific perspective. In this way, students can expect to acquire knowledge for the handling and conservation of cultural properties. In recent years, interdisciplinary cooperation between the field of cultural properties and the field of analytical sciences has been particularly strong, and the acquisition of basic knowledge of science in the humanities can broaden the scope of research and other activities.
In this lecture, we aim to acquire (1) the concept of cultural property protection, (2) basic scientific knowledge of materials for cultural properties, and (3) basic knowledge of scientific aspects and conservation methods mainly for inorganic cultural properties.
