Course Description

In this course, we will learn about Bunraku, a form of early modern theater. Bunraku was established about 400 years ago, developed throughout the modern era, and has been enjoyed by many people since the modern era. In this lecture, we will learn about the history of Bunraku. We will also deepen our understanding of Bunraku by watching videos of actual Bunraku performances. Occasionally, we will also refer to Kabuki videos.
