Course Description

This course is an introduction to modern Japanese history. The primary aim of this lecture is to provide students with a general but solid knowledge of Japanese modernization from Meiji era to present. Particular focus will be placed on: a western impact on Japan; and Japan's developments into a modern nation-state. This lecture will be taught and assessed in Japanese.
