Course Description

In Seminar IV, we will explore issues of race, gender, and prejudice depicted in Markus Zusak’s international bestseller, The Book Thief (2005). This course will also compare Zusak’s book with the American dystopian classic, Fahrenheit 451 (1953) and examine how book banning, censorship, and the importance of literature are portrayed in these works. Students are expected to participate actively in group discussions, workshops, presentations, and other class activities.
