Course Description

Museum collections are very varied (paintings, crafts, historical records, archaeological materials and sites, folklore, castles, samples of plants and animals etc.) and proper preservation of those materials are also diversified. This lecture will deal with basic knowledge on characteristics of each collection and their materials, the factors to cause damages of them, how to prevent and minimize damages and degradations, the desirable condition to preserve them, and how to protect them from disasters.
