Course Description

In the 21st century, globalization and the neoliberal politics are increasingly gaining momentum. Against this background, countries in East Asia and Southeast Asia that experienced hight economic growth, begin to confront related social problems, such as the aging society, the social inequality and environmental issues. In addition, the rise of China as a global economic power has significantly reshaped the geopolitical landscape in Asia and in the world. This course focuses on the economic dynamics in Asia and their social effects in recent years and sheds light on the new social problems in Asia and the impact of China's rise on the regional integration.
