Course Description

This class is an overview of the political history of the United States of America, the oldest nation with which Japan has been associated since modern times. There are few opportunities to study American history in world history classes up to high school, and even in Japanese universities, there are not many classes on American history. Let's take this class as an opportunity to examine the politics of the United States from a historical perspective.
The United States of America became an independent nation in the 18th century, so its history is much shorter than the history of Japan or the eternal history of the East. However, the United States is a very "historical" nation. It is no exaggeration to say that the world history is condensed in its short history. Through this class, you will gain a perspective to understand the historical background behind the current situation of the United States.
In the second semester, we will cover the period from post-Civil War America to modern America.
