Course Description

Students will be assigned a theme related to various historical matters from the late Edo period to the early Meiji period, and the instructor will thoroughly research books, articles, and historical materials related to the theme, summarize them, and make a presentation. Through preparation for the presentations, students will learn how to find reference materials and articles, and how to handle and read historical materials. In addition, students will deepen their understanding of the historical background of each period and consider the linkage with political and social conditions. Students who are not in charge of presentations should prepare for each topic and actively participate in discussions.
