Course Description

In the “History of Foreign Politics 2", we learn about the relationship between politics and religion in the medieval and early modern European world. In the middle age the popes had a universal power over the church and the ruling powers, but this situation has changed drastically in the early modern period through the “Reformation” and the rise of “Absolutism” in the States of Europe. In this course we will focus on not only the differences between these two periods but also on the continuity, verifying how important this relationship and its balance are to understand the States and society in the pre-modern European world.
