授業の概要（ねらい）

This course provides opportunities for students to communicate in English as well as examining various aspects of American culture. Students will also have opportunities to do presentation about America.
本授業では、英語で会話し、アメリカに関して多角的な視点から考察する。また、アメリカに関するプレゼンテーションをする機会もある。

授業の到達目標

・To be able to communicate in English more fluently 英語をより流暢に話せるようになる
・To obtain the basic knowledge about American culture アメリカ文化に関する基礎知識を修得する
・To learn how to research using the relevant resources 資料を使用しながら、テーマに沿って調査・研究する方法を学ぶ
・To learn American English expression アメリカ英語の表現を学ぶ
・To enhance presentation skills プレゼンテーション能力を身につける

成績評価の方法および基準

・Active class participation (e.g. LMS, discussion) & assignments 積極的な授業参加 (例、LMS、ディスカッション) と課題 40%
・Presentation プレゼンテーション 30%
・Final Exam (Oral Exam) 期末テスト (口頭テスト) 30％

準備学修の内容

・Read the assigned reading materials beforehand and submit the assignments when given (further detailed instruction is provided in each class) 教科書や配布された資料を事前に読み、与えられた課題を提出する（授業毎に詳細な指示をする）
・Presentation preparation (research, PPT slides, script) プレゼンテーション準備（資料調査、スライド の作成、原稿の作成）

その他履修上の注意事項

・This course is conducted mostly in English (materials, discussion, reflection papers) 主な使用言語は英語（資料、ディスカッション、リフレクション・ペーパー） 。
・Except for special reasons, you need to attend all classes punctually and regularly. 特別な事情がない限り、全ての授業に時間通りに出席すること。
・Missing more than one third of the total number of classes will result in a failing grade for the course. Also, two late arrivals are considered one absence. 授業数の3分の１以上欠席すると、不合格になる。また、2回遅刻したものを1回の欠席としてみなす。
・If you are late for more than 15 minutes, you will be considered “absent” for the class. 15分以上遅刻の場合、「欠席」としてみなす。
