This course will handle general frameworks for understanding business organizations. We will study and discuss various subjects mainly from the perspective of manager's position.
In the spring semester (Business Organization III), we will cover fundamental topics related to managing an organization. We will cover topics such as basic frameworks of corporate structure, role of managers, human behavior, corporate culture, and business transformation.
In the autumn semester (Business Organization IV), we will handle topics that the are essential for management for sustainable growth under rapidly changing business environment. We will cover topics such as SDGs, ESG investment, concept of investment chain, corporate responsibility, environmental issues, social issues, risk management, corporate governance and communication with stakeholders.
My brief background is shown below. I have business experiences from banking and audit. I also have studied and worked in the U.S., Canada and Thailand. I hope that I can utilize my working experiences in these countries as well as my experiences in Japan. I look forward to discussing various subject with you as well as enhancing discussion among yourselves.
Work Experience:
1981-2010 The Industrial Bank of Japan (current Mizuho Bank).
Worked at accounting, research, international business departments, New York branch, Toronto branch, Bangkok branch and other departments. 15 years of overseas experiences.
2010-2021 PwC Aarata.
Worked at financial services section, risk management offices, stakeholder engagement office and other sections.
2021 Teikyo University (Faculty of Economics)
Education:
1976 Studied 1 year at Northwestern University (Illinois, USA)
1981 Graduated from Keio University (Faculty of Economics, Japan)
1985 Graduated from The Chicago School of Business (MBA, USA)
Main objectives of the course are as follows.
1) Understand the basics and characteristics of corporate management and be able to explain to other persons.
2) Obtain fundamental knowledge to develop strategies and manage the organization and be able to adapt to the changing business environment.
3) Understand how major corporations are managing their organizations.
Evaluation will be based on the following criteria
Class contribution (50%)
Submission of assignments (25%)
Final Exam (25%)

You should have interest in corporate management and be prepared to read media articles related to management topics. You should also be prepared to share your ideas with other members of the class for discussion.
I will prepare materials which will be handed out in the class.
