授業の概要（ねらい）

　かつて日本は第二次大戦後の混沌とした状況の中からめざましい経済成長を実現し、日本的企業経営は『ジャパン・アズ・ナンバーワン』として高く評価されていた時期がありました。ところが、90年代初頭に経験したバブルの崩壊後、現在に至るまで、日本経済は低迷を続け、日本的企業経営についても「時代にあわない経営スタイル」として語られることが多くなっています。日本経済の低迷が一過性の景気循環的な要因ではなく、より構造的な要因に根差していることは理解されつつありますが、具体的にどこに問題があるのでしょう。
　本講義では、現在、日本経済がどのような問題を抱え、どのように解決していくことが求められているのか、さまざまな角度から吟味することによって履修生に理解して頂くことをねらいとしています。
In spite of its remarkable economic success after WW2, the Japanese economy has currently stagnated for more than 20 years. Accordingly, the management systems of Japanese companies, which supported its economic success before, are required to reform to fit for the current domestic and world economic environments. It is widely known that the causes of economic stagnation in Japan are deep-rooted in its various economic systems and institutions, more than temporal business cycle phases. The main purpose of this lecture is for students to understand what sorts of economic issues Japan encounters in its systems and institutions, and examine the direction of its reforms for the future.

As the goals of this lecture, students are able to
- explain issues and their backgrounds of the Japanese economy, based on economic theories and data.
- explain economic issues Japan faces from the international viewpoint.
- understand the economic relationship between Japan and other countries, and have interests in making ties to other countries.

成績評価の方法および基準

・期中レポート課題（到達目標①、②）：50％（計10回、各5％）
・期末レポート課題（到達目標①、②、③）：50％
The assessment of this lecture is based on several asssignments.
- Interim assignment: 　　　50% (10 times, each 5%)
- End semester assignment: 50%

準備学修の内容

日本経済や経営に関する新聞や雑誌、ウエブ等の記事を１本選択し、内容の要約とそれに対する自分の意見を簡潔にまとめ提出することを求めます。
The interim assignment rquires students to submit summaries and opinions about articles cited from newspapers and others on the Japanese economy and managements.

その他履修上の注意事項

・前期は日本語、後期は英語で授業をします。
・日本経済や日本型企業経営に関して何が問題になっているかを把握するため、関連する新書の他、日本経済新聞の「やさしい経済学」や「経済教室」欄を読むことをお勧めします。
The language in this class is Japanese in the first semester, while English in the second semester.
