Course Description

We will use a textbook for developing reading skills and do some exercises to check the students' comprehension of the text and develop vocabulary. Some of the exercises are designed to help the student learn English oral comprehension and speaking ability.
This class is designed to achieve Educational Goals 1, 2, and 3 of the General Basic Subjects.

Course Objectives

The purpose of this course is to enable students to attain an advanced level of proficiency in English.

Grading Policy

Exercises in classes, participation, assignments (40%) and the term-end examination (60%)

Requirements(Assignments)

Students will be encouraged to prepare for classes. They should check the words they don't know and try the exercises in the textbook. Students should remember to review after class. Dictionaries are very useful and students should use them as often as possible.( 90 minutes per class)

Classes will follow the order in the textbook. If there is any change of the order, advance notice will be provided in class. Supplementary materials may be provided in class. Students should bring a dictionary to class. More information about it will be given at the first class.
